Photo's Galore
As reported yesterday here are the photo's of the work completed so far at our house, you can see a lot of progress both inside and out. What to expect over the next week, roof finished, cladding started and finished, brickie started, plaster delivered, doors hung to front and laundry doors (almost lockup). I hope to have a photo gallery soon of all our house photo's, there are plenty that we have taken that don't make it here unfortunately, just got to figure it out.
Our House has been wrapped in Metricon's blue insulation, this is our rumpus room window then heading down to the en suite window, roof guard stays until the roof is complete. OH&S apparently!
Our roof tiles are missing at the front of our house because they were a pallet short, the pallet arrived on Friday and should be installed early in the week, brick pallets have been spread around the house.
I was standing almost at our back fence, you can see the roof is complete at the back of the house and the pallets of bricks, the open area is our garage and our roller door will go in the big open area at the left of the photo. The roof pitch is 27Degrees which makes it a very high roof with 9ft ceilings inside.
This is a photo of the back of our house, we have 2 sets of french doors leading to the back yard and now the vision is becoming reality. We have an area under the roof line that is around 3mx2m that will give us some shelter, time to think of a pergola to go across the back of the house. MMMMM thoughts!
All our bricks have been delivered, the color is as it looks brownish with darker colors mixed through. They are Austral bricks called Hawthorn. We have 18 pallets of bricks and we had 14 pallets of roof tiles including the pallet that they were short.
Bayley is looking through the electrical PowerPoint backing brackets (not sure if correct terminology) the electrician must have come through on Friday and placed all our power points and light fittings, First siting of wrong placement of power point in a bedroom, should be alright though.
Our heating duct work has been completed ready for the ceiling plaster to be installed, I think the plaster gets delivered next Friday.
Well the picture of the baby sitters room has made it to the blog and just so happens to have one of our baby sitters picturing her head on the pillow. Thanks Helen. You can see the green door in the background, that is our laundry door.
This is a plug for our builders, So far and touch plenty of wood that all continues to go well. Jarrad and his team of contractors are doing a good job.

The Roofers, The Roofers, The Roofers are on fire
No pictures today but I have a quick update on what i have seen this week. I dropped in on Monday night after work to look at the progress because it was such great weather. Nothing, nothing had changed from Thursday when I was there last, I must say I was a little disappointed so I had Tuesday off and I didn't go and have a look in the daylight. I went to Bendigo on Wednesday so i thought I would drop in on my way home it was around 7.45pm when I was coming up the street towards our house and I could see from the street light something that looked like roof tiles but I was not sure until I pulled up and there they were, Roof tiles all over except a small section above the front door, WOW. Also the house was wrapped in the insulation that they use as well. I went inside the house and I could hear the wind but I couldn't feel it, all sealed up almost. I will report soon with photo's

The Roof is starting
Well the roof is starting to happen, in the photo you can see the Fascia's and guttering have been installed, the gutters are the same color as the doors and window frame and i think the Fascia's are the same color that will be painted on our cladding. The guard rail for the roofers has been installed also, I spoke with Jarred today and he told me that he has organised a group of 10 roofers to come and lay the roof tiles and this should take them 1 day if all goes well or 2 if weather not so great. Mel was there today with Michelle and the weather was windy and with the height of our roof I would be concerned if I was up there. Jarred also mentioned that he was getting the Carpenter in next Wednesday to start the cladding and that he would be there for 3 days to complete that, then the brickie will be in to brick up to the cladding, Jarred said he normally does this the other way around but feels that the finish will be better doing this way (time will tell). The picture of the house at the top of the page is the style that we are having not exactly the same as what we have but I have used this picture for illustration purposes only, colors may vary from store to store (got that comment from our Catalogues)
Roof tiles are on pallets at the front of the house and the color is starting to appear around the house.
All our roof tiles are pictured here on the right of our house, I hope this bloke doesn't run into them.
We had some guys with a bobcat moving sand around the block, not sure why but I think it could be all the rain that has dropped. I might try and add to the main page what % the water catchments are up to from the start to finish of our house.

Windows to the world
I came to have a look at the house before work on Friday and noticed that the roof trusses were nearly complete and that the windows were still laying on the ground. We drove up this afternoon to find that all the windows are in and the roof trusses are mostly complete, I would say that there is still some trim work to be done with the roof, we have also had sand delivered and I would assume that this is for the mortar for our bricks, not that they have arrived as yet.We took Gloria with us to have a look and see the size of the rooms now that there are walls
The roof is complete and the windows are in.
The front of our house now with the windows in place. That is Mel at the back of the house standing in front of our dining room french doors, as seen in previous photo you can see the smaller windows to the right and left of these windows.
Our standard photo of the house between the fork in the tree, i will have to do a collage of just these photo's once done.
Our side window of the rumpus room, this window looks out onto the golf course and this will be a window I'm sure that will be looked out allot. Might have to set up an old man chair and sit and watch as the clouds pass.
A photo from the side garage door looking across to our french doors.
This is a view from the back corner of the block where our side gate is. Our 2 sets of french doors have been fitted. One is from the dining room (left) and the other is from the rumpus room (right). We are happy with the look of these doors, this style of door was a requirement from the Eynesbury design dept. We originally wanted sliding doors.
Our gutters and downpipes, Fascia's etc have all arrived on site, they are all precast to length so they should go up quick.
Here is Groovy Rylie standing in his room, I put a photo in the other day of the view from Rylie's room over the golf course, now the windows are in and Rylie thinks it's pretty special.

Don't blink or you will miss it
Don't blink, the roof trusses were delivered on Monday and as you can see they have started to put them up, our roof line is a Little strange with a high peak in the middle of the house the lowers towards the front before levelling out, then it flattens out towards the back. (I think best described with a picture, that will be soon). The garage section has also been put up at the back of the house. I think for the first time we might put Cars in the garage! I went to the house today only to find that the builders were driving away because of the rain, it is like if we were to organise a party it would rain, build a house and we will break the drought! It all seems to be running smoothly so far. We did get our first Invoice for the house from Metricon, oohh time to start paying!

our front veranda and our roof trusses have started, amongst all those trusses at the front there is our front door, ply wood has also been added to the frame for more support. Where our electricity box is on the side of the house is where the extension to our bedroom is, if you can remember back in one of the earlier blogs I said that this was an issue with the plans when we were signing the contracts. It was not put on the plans due to planning or something, now that it is there we are so glad that we said we really wanted it or Mel said she really really wanted it.

OMG! 1 day is a long time building.
OH MY GOD! tonight I left work at 4pm to go and see what the guys had done and I think you would agree that this is amazing. The frame is almost complete with only a few pieces of wood left lying around the yard to complete the jigsaw puzzle, I have to take my hat off to them because they built all this quicker than we did building the caravan annexe! We also had a delivery of all our windows and 2 sets of french doors for our rumpus and dining room. The roof trusses get delivered on Monday and the framers are there for the rest of the week before the first building inspection, we have organised our own inspector as well to look over this stage of the build. A lot can happen in 1 day.

Overnight the fairies arrived
As l mentioned in the last blog, word was that things were happening at a fast pace and that we needed to get to our block and check out what was going on. This is what we saw when we got out the car.... and we both said Wow!. We got to the block at 9.40am and the 2 tradies were working hard and as you can tell by the photo a 3rd of the house frame was standing. The slab was all laid in quick time and I didn't even get a daylight photo of the slab alone, I do have some night shots on my phone but they are really dark. It's all happening and we can't wait to see the progression.

While we were there you can see the difference between this photo and the next, a lot more frame work has been nailed together, We went for a walk along the path towards the other end of the street (5 minute walk) and then came back and took this photo, it wasn't until after that we noticed how quick they were making the frame and what they had done. They must have felt Mel's looks at them and they got cracking (which look was that Pat? - l know how to edit this blog Ha!)

Standing at the front of the house you can see the workers have been busy building our house frame, there are 2 workers building with 1 nailing and the other is cutting and sorting the studs getting them ready for his mate. The slab of concrete at the front is our Portico (Veranda) with the front door in the middle.

Surprise - Surprise - Surprise
No Photo's today but we will have photo's on Thursday after we visit the block. I have been doing some drop in visits to see what has been happening, on Friday last week I dropped in and saw Jarrod our site supervisor and we went through what was going to be happening next. The gravel was down for our slab base (most slabs are a base of foam with concrete over the top, called a waffle slab) our is slightly different with concrete supports underneath the edges of the slabs as shown in previous photo's. Jarrod told me that the slab would be down by Tuesday (remember this is Friday and there was nobody working on site). Dropped in Saturday Afternoon and no changes, dropped in Monday night around 6.30pm (dark) and found that all the form work was done and to find out today that the slab is down and that the frame work has been dropped onto the block - WOW. More photo's Thursday.
